Happy Fall Navaratri!
September 28 through October 6

Navaratri (Nine Nights of Divine Mother) is broken into three parts. We'll be talking about each of the parts and what each day represents for each of the 9 days.
We hope you'll celebrate with us.

Navaratri is a special time of year when Divine Mother makes Herself available to us. In the Fall, we are giving thanks for the abundant harvest.
Whether we planted a physical garden/field or not, we have certainly planted ‘seed thoughts’ and seen the results.  We give thanks for the manifestation of what we have focused upon and we resolve to focus upon the higher good for the future.

The world is awash in Blessings!!!

KALI: The first three days are devoted to Kali, the Goddess of Destruction and Restoration, wife of Shiva; it is a time of purification, a time to let go of all that is not "on purpose" for your life. This is an opportunity for "cleaning out your closets" to make way for new things.

Night and Day One:
Sailaputra - Daughter of the Himalayas

Sailaputra begins at Sunset Tuesday, September 27, and ends at Sunset on
September 28. The First Havan is performed on the morning of the 28th.

**************
This little story tells us more about Kali Ma:
There is a Kali Temple in South India where non-Indians are taken as a 'test.' They are shown the figure of Kali Ma, with all of the 'horrific' aspects in full view. If they show fear rather than devotion, it is a sign that they have 'evil' inside of them. Those who show pure devotion are clean and clear, since Kali only attacks EVIL and not purity or goodness.

Another of Kali’s aspects is that She strikes like a lightning bolt, with life changing completely overnight, seemingly. (I have had several of those in this life! How about you?) She only destroys that which was not built upon a proper firm foundation so the healing and re-construction can begin. (The Tower in the Tarot deck depicts the same concept.)
Mantra: Om Shri MahaKali Namah

HAPPY NAVARATRI TO ALL!!!

The cyber ashram is here to support you. The e-mail lists are hosting several hundred people for Navaratri, and this is my 28th year of performing the Navaratri ceremonies which take place in the Spring and Fall.

As a member of the cyber ashram e-mail list you know we regularly distribute the teachings of Babaji among many other spiritual and holistic points of view in alignment with the teachings. The website (www.babaji.net) is full of inspiration and spiritual support. The Gift Shop at www.vishwagifts.com has a variety of supplies to support your spiritual practices.

If you feel you have benefitted from being a member of the list, please consider a financial gift to the ashram at this time. You can support us by sponoring the following activities during Navaratri: $108 for a Havan/Fire Ceremony or $36 for an Arati devotional service for your intentions, or sponsor a 5-day Votive Candle on the altar for $12. Any amount of donation is appreciated. There is a DONATION button at www.babaji.net which will process the amount you'd like to give through Paypal.

****SPECIAL BONUS ***I have a small number (just 4 left) Rudraksa Beads from a Mala that was worn by Shri Babaji in 1983. They still hold His sacred vibration. Each of the Havan/Fire Ceremony sponsorships of $108 or more will receive one of these Beads as a special blessing. Let me know which day you would like to sponsor and send the $108 through the donation button, or call with credit card information, or let me know you are sending a check/money order, etc.
If you like, the bead can be blessed each day during the ceremonies before I mail it out to you (or it can be mailed immediately).

Please send in your prayer requests, with or without donation. These are placed upon the altar in front of Babaji and Divine Mother, Shri Rajeshwari, plus the 'entourage' of Shri Hanuman, Shri Kalbhairav, and Shri Ganesh. Together, they make up a full team of Divine Energy working on our behalf.

The daily Havan/Fire Ceremony takes place at 10:08 a.m. Central Time. September 28 is the first Havan. Days ONE, FIVE and NINE are said to have the most ‘power’ in them, each with a slightly different purpose. One is the “cleanse;’ Five is the “gifts;” Nine is the “completion.”

You can make a Navaratri donation at http://www.babaji.net, on the home page, or by going to www.paypal.com sending your gift to vishwagifts@gmail.com. By telephone, call 877-642-9238, with Visa or Mastercard. Through Paypal, you can pay any way that works for you.

INTRO TO NAVARATRI...
NAVARATRI is September 28 through October 6
First Night begins at sunset on September 27

by Marge DeVivo

Navaratri is the time when Divine Mother makes Herself more available than usual---are you available to HER?
It's a two-way agreement or contract that requires surrender and devotion to make the most of this auspicious time.

Navaratri is a very special time of honoring the Divine Mother. Exact translation of the word "Navaratri" is "9 nights".

Navaratri happens in Spring and in Fall of every year. It begins on a New Moon.

Each of the days honors a certain aspect of Divine Mother and gives a focus to the energy of that day.

These are known as the Nava Durga (9 Names of Durga).

Day One:
Sailaputra - Daughter of the Himalayas

Day Two:Brahmacharini - She Who remains celibate

Day Three:Chandraghanta - She Who is Beautiful as the Moon

Day Four:Kusmanda - She Who brings happiness

Day Five:Skandamata - Mother of Skanda, the leader of armies against evil

Day Six:Katyayani - Aspect of Mother Kali

Day Seven:Kalaratri - Kali Night of no Moon

Day Eight:Mahagauri - The Great White Goddess

Day Nine:Siddhidatri - She Who is of great spiritual Powers and knowledge

Traditional Ways to Honor Divine Mother during Navaratri:
Usually, certain "sacrifices" or personal offerings are made during the nine days, such as giving up some certain food or drink or something you are accustomed to having or doing each day. Some people restrict themselves to only one
meal per day throughout the nine days. Some give up their favorite beverage, like coffee or tea; in the West,  some give up watching TV or some other daily ritual they usually engage in.
(All of you Catholics can relate to "giving up things" for Lent.)

You could also add something you don't usually do, such as reading the "Sapta Sati" or parts of the "Ramayana" or "Mahabharata"  or other sacred scripture for 20 to 30 minutes each of the nine days.

Whatever it is you choose, the idea is that each time you think of this sacrifice
you are making, you offer up that thought and say a prayer to Divine Mother to increase your devotion to Her.
f you can continue your "Sadhna" for the full 9 days, there is a special reward from Divine Mother that happens on either the 9th or 10th day. She promises "a personal physical experience" of Her.

This is individualized and only you will know what it is and when it has happened. It is up to you if you want to share it with anyone else after it happens. For some people it makes it more "real" to share, for some it is more powerful to keep silent about it.

The fifth day is considered to be the "turning point" day, when the cleansing/purification aspects are complete. The rest of the 9 days get a little easier to handle on the day when the Celebration is more than half completed.

The energy of each day is building so that by the end of the Navaratri there is much energy generated, each Fire Ceremony and Arati becoming more filled with Shakti (Divine Energy).

For the highest benefits and greatest results of Navaratri, it is best to begin with the first day of Navaratri and go all the way to the end without missing any of the ceremonies. You can listen to the Arati each day, morning and evening; read the mantras that will be said at the Havan; do Japa with the Name of Divine Mother; read the Sapta Sati; sit before a candle if you don't have a firepit. You can make this time as elaborate or as simple as your heart desires. You decide.
This requires some personal commitment for nine days and is definitely worth whatever it takes from your daily routine.

Think of the great personal commitment and sacrifice performed by Divine Mother in Her care of each of us each day!
You are free to follow as many of these practices at home as possible to observe the 9 Days of Divine.

Suggestions:
**Put your commitment/contract into writing NOW, before Navaratri begins.
**Write down your intentions for this auspicious time and what you are willing to do as your personal 'sacrifice.'
**Keep a daily journal of what you learned about yourself and your situation during this blessed time.
**Keep track of how many special prayers or malas of Divine Mother Mantras you have said.
**Look at the aspect of Divine Mother each day and notice how that energy can enhance your everyday life.

BE ALERT BE AWARE

There is always more to learn about yourself and your SELF (Higher Self) each and every day.
Divine Mother imparts a special blessing during this time. Be willing to take what She offers and use it for the Highest Good.

Om Namah Shivaya
Jai Maha Maya ki Jai!

Love and light,
Marge

p.s. Thank you for your support.

Sharing Dreams About Babaji

Please send any Babaji dreams you would like to share...

margdevi@yahoo.com

 (Dream in Subject Line)

Babaji Dreams:
I had a dream of Babaji just a few weeks ago.............July 2011
I dreamed that I was in a very dark place, perhaps traveling after this life. In the dark place, I was sitting in meditative repose, but, in the company of someone whom I did not want to be in the company of!
It seemed as though I was praying for a long time......praying to Babaji.

Suddenly, Babaji walked by me and my unwanted guest.
Babaji glanced back at me, but made no sound. He was dawned in a White Garb. His vibrations seemed unreachable.
After a long moment, Babaji continued to walk and I could not see him physically any more.
The dream ended in sadness, there I was left with my unwanted guest.

Each night after that dream I tried intentionally to envision Babaji walking by, pleading to him within my heartfelt prayer, but still in the company of a person whom I was not comfortable with.
I could not help but, try to remember the dream, in that, to see Babaji in my dream was so very pleasing to me.
Just a few days ago, (approx: September 28, 2011), the dream popped into my head after forgetting for just one day.......At the time I was overwhelmed with heavy burdens and doing homework, a realization came over me.......then a flash of Babaji in my thoughts. Somehow I knew that Babaji was trying to help me.

I know now that He cares for me in my dark hours.
Jai, Jai, Babaji, Jai!

The dream began in my parents room of the house I grew up. I was in my parents bed with a few others and babaji was next to me. He got up and left the room and I followed him into the dining room where there is a mirror covering the whole of one wall. Babaji was looking in the mirror and projecting a smaller copy of himself in the mirror. It looked like fun so I tried it and did it. Babaji then spoke to me and said that I was more powerful than him. I got upset at the thought that I was more powerful than him but he said not to worry because when we got together we do Haidiyakhanda. Upon waking I also learned that he was also speaking as Shiva Nataraj.
At the time I didn't know this was a mantra and a couple days later I was browsing the old babaji.net site and I found the information on the Haidiyakhandi mantra. I had only known the word Herkhan and was puzzled about the extra syllables in the dream. This was solved when i read about the mantra. Although I still wonder a bit what the difference in the last syllable means? Perhaps a gramatical thing?Thank you Marge and Babaji,

There is a dream about Babaji which have told you before, but I send it to you again. Also, I can add a dream about Babaji I had a month ago...
"When I was 26 years old I started to read “Autobiography of a Yogi” by Paramahansa Yogananda. For me, this book started a process of spiritual awakening. When I read about Babaji I was totally overwhelmed. I realised that when I was a child I had a dream about Babaji, and while reading about him, the message and vision of this dream became more vivid than ever before. This dream has been the most valuable treasure of my life. Now is the time when I want to share it with others.
When I was a boy there was a book about Tibet at my home. I liked to look at the pictures of the Himalayan mountains, since they created special, almost magnetic, feelings inside me. One night after looking in the book I had the following dream: I had climbed a mountain from a deep valley after a long and straining walk. The valley was covered with fog and fog was all around me. But then there was a man on a mountain platform, sitting beside a small hut made out of mud. I sat down before him. He played a beautiful tune on a wooden flute, and this piece of music was talking directly to my heart, soothing every sorrow. This melody was very simple, yet it contained the very essence of all music. When I was looking to the east I saw the sun was rising and the fogs were lifting. Then, I could see lands of golden light and was filled with peaceful bliss."
"I dreamed I sat in my bed with a picture of Babaji before me, when the harmonious face of Babaji suddenly started to change into a very unpleasant, demon-like face. Then, like a ball, I started to roll back and forth in my bedroom, down on the floor and up in my bed. The feeling was scary, almost like being a bun in the baker´s hands, before it will be set aside to rise and baked in the oven. In the dream I felt frightened, but I repeated "Om Namah Shivaya" all the time. This dream I had before a few days of emotional clearings."

In my dream we were doing chores, in this place, maybe it was in Haidakan or some ashram, there were a few people and Babaji, and the next thing I wanted to do was take a big sack of rice or grain from the shelf and carry it to where it had to go, and Babaji said "Be careful, maybe it's too heavy for you" and I said, "It's ok" and went to put the sack on my bag, and to my surprise it weight like nothing, it was very, very light.
Cheers

*********************
Upon leaving the Haidakhan ashram, where my friend and I met with Babaji in October 1982, we went to Srinagar and stayed in a houseboat on Dal Lake.
During our stay there I had a dream where I saw a large group of people facing each other while holding hands in a circle.
We were standing on what appeared to be a large single eye. The eyelashes were in the background as if on the horizon like rays of the sun.
Babaji, in His characteristic long white garment, was holding hands with us in the easternmost point of the circle.
To me this dream represents harmony in unity by living in truth, simplicity, and love; and that He is always with us. It seems to indicate our awakening as one on the New Earth.
The eye image reminds me of Matt. 6:22: 'The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.’
May God’s love shine like a diamond in our heart.

End Your Story; Begin Your Life

"End Your Story; Begin Your Life"
            by Jim Dreaver
From  Chapter Three...

Drop All Philosophies

Until you actually awaken to deeper levels of freedom, it’s inevitable that you will try to hold onto a story—some thought, belief, concept, story, or philosophy—which gives you the flavor and feeling of the freedom you seek. This is okay up to a point, but eventually it will become clear to you that even the words and philosophies, no matter how accurate or succinct they may be, have to be released.

One of the last public talks I attended with Jean Klein was in a church hall in Sausalito, California. There were fifty or sixty people in the room, waiting patiently for Jean to come in and take his seat at the front. When he arrived, he had to be helped to his chair. He seemed very old, thin, and frail, yet his gracious European bearing was still very much in evidence, and he was dressed as elegantly as ever.

He sat down with some difficulty and smiled at us. A beautiful, clear light emanated from his eyes. We sat in silence for a while, and then he began to speak. He talked of the need to see through the "person" so we could come to our real presence, our true being. There were some questions, and subsequent dialogue. About half-way through the evening, a serious-looking young woman in a business suit raised her hand. When Jean acknowledged her, she stood up. She looked like a banker, or a stockbroker.

"Dr. Klein," she asked, "May I ask, what is your philosophy of life?"

There was a long silence. Then Jean beamed one of those disarming smiles of his. "Madame, I have no philosophy… That is why I am a happy man."

Laughter rippled throughout the room. The young woman smiled rather self-consciously, and then sat down.

For months after the exchange, I found myself thinking about Jean's words. It was so simple. Forget the philosophies, the stories, the beliefs, the theories and just abide in the openness and freedom of our true nature. Then we really will be happy. We'll live out of wholeness, with wisdom and compassion, and we'll do what needs to be done—without fuss, without bother.

But if we hold onto a philosophy, a belief system, or an agenda of any kind, we create a barrier to the unfolding of something deeper, something more authentic, fresh, and alive.

When our beliefs reinforce the idea of being a separate "self," a lonely wave on the ocean of life, it is that separation that breeds feelings of isolation, insecurity, and fear.

But when we let go of all philosophies, all stories, and just be, happiness is ours…

See if you can touch that place right now… Be present with whatever you are experiencing… Notice any thoughts or stories passing through your mind, and any sensations of feelings in your body, and see them for what they are… Just passing phenomena, coming and going… Now visualize yourself as empty space on the inside of your body, an emptiness which is at the same time, infinitely full… Notice how “you,” as the one who is aware of all this, are still very much here... In this moment, you need no story or philosophy to define you… Then open your eyes and just be present as the beautiful, conscious person you are…
